A Lifetime of Hope for Columbus Teens

Since 2001, Youth & Families for Christ (YFFC) has stood as a pillar of strength, compassion and connection in downtown Columbus. Located at 2809 13th Street, this non-denominational nonprofit is far more than an after-school program. It is a safe haven, a mentoring community and a consistent source of support for local youth navigating life's challenges.

YFFC serves teens ages 10 to 19, meeting them where they are and walking alongside them through every season of life. As a United Way agency, YFFC partners with schools, counselors, businesses and local organizations to ensure every teen, regardless of background, has access to meaningful, free services that support their development physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

While rooted in Christian values, YFFC is not affiliated with a specific church. Instead, they welcome collaboration from all corners of the community, building a broad network of support for youth in need.

Meeting Teens Where They Area

Many of the teens who find their way to YFFC are experiencing instability. Growing up in single parent homes, navigating family struggles, or feeling the effects of social media pressure and mental health challenges. These are students who often feel unseen or unsure of their value. YFFC offers what they need most: connection, consistency and someone who truly cares.

What sets YFFC apart is its long-term relationship focused model. This is not a one-size-fits-all program, nor one with a "graduate and go" mentality. Staff and volunteers form deep, lasting relationships with teens that often continue into adulthood. Relationships built on trust, encouragement and purpose.

Programs that Empower

Each week, YFFC connects with an average of 520 different teens through a wide range of programs designed to support personal growth and uncover each student's unique gifts. Offerings include: After School Drop in Hours; Club Programs & Over 30 Weekly Small Groups; Teen Parent Ministry; Juvenile Services; Cooking, Stress and Anger Management Classes and Alternative School for students needing a different academic path.

Every one of these services if offered completely free of charge, making it easy for teens and families to access vital support. During the summer, YFFC partners with the Nebraska Extension Office to provide 4-H Club opportunities, allowing youth to participate in the Platte County Fair, many for the first time.

More Than a Program - A Purpose

YFFC believes that every teen is uniquely gifted, and their goal is to help each student discover their own talents, strengths and purpose. Whether it's through a cooking class, a conversation, or years of mentoring, YFFC is committed to showing youth they matter, they are seen and there is hope.

They're always eager to collaborate with other Trackside District downtown businesses and community partners who share their heart for building a stronger, more compassionate Columbus.
