Kind Columbus Set for April 28
A Community-Wide Celebration of Kindness
On Tuesday, April 28, the community will come together for Kind Columbus, a citywide celebration of generosity, connection and simple acts of kindness that make a big impact.
Kind Columbus invites residents, businesses, schools, churches, and organizations to participate in a day dedicated to paying it forward.
From small gestures like leaving encouraging notes and buying coffee for a stranger, to larger efforts like organizing volunteer projects or supporting local nonprofits, the goal is simple: spread kindness throughout the community.
“Columbus is always been good about helping others when there's a need. The kind Columbus initiative is an opportunity to think about going a step above. It doesn't have to be a big thing,” Columbus Mayor Jim Bulkley said. “It can be something small that they just were not able to take care of. It could be a smile it could be saying hello and just being there and letting them know if there's something they need you're there to help. Continue to do what Columbus does best.”
Throughout the day, participants are encouraged to:
- Perform random acts of kindness
- Support local businesses
- Volunteer their time
- Recognize someone who makes a difference
- Share their acts of kindness on social media using #KindColumbusNE and feel free to post it in the Kind Columbus NE Facebook group.
Local businesses and community groups are also encouraged to host special activities, offer kindness-themed promotions, or challenge customers and employees to pay it forward.
Kind Columbus is designed to engage all ages, from young children learning the power of gratitude to longtime residents who continue to give back in meaningful ways. By working together, the community can create a ripple effect that lasts far beyond April 28.
To learn more about how to get involved, volunteer, or partner with Kind Columbus, contact Public Communications Manager Matt Lindberg at [email protected] or follow the Kind Columbus NE event page on Facebook.
Let’s make April 28 a day that showcases the very best of Columbus — one act of kindness at a time.
