Finding Beauty in the Broken: Junk Journaling Workshop Inspires Creativity and Healing

A Creative Collaboration

On Saturday, November 1, the Trax Creative District, Center for Survivors and Artzy Haven teamed up to host a free Junk Journaling Workshop, a hands-on creative experience that blended art, reflection and community.

Learning from a Local Artist

Led by Sarah from Artzy Haven, a seasoned junk journaler, participants learned how to transform scraps, postcards, and bits of everyday paper into something meaningful and beautiful. With her years of experience, Sarah guided the group through helpful techniques and creative tips, showing that inspiration can come from the most unexpected materials.

Art with a Deeper Meaning

The workshop was held in conjunction with Domestic Violence Month, carrying a message that reached far beyond art. Just as junk journaling turns discarded or torn items into something beautiful, the event symbolized hope, resilience and the power to rebuild.

A Journal for Reflection

Participants left not only with a one-of-a-kind handmade journal, but also with a new outlet for expression. A place to jot down thoughts, inspiration or simply moments of gratitude.

Creativity as Healing

Events like this remind us how creativity can be both a form of art and a form of healing, bringing people together to celebrate transformation, in paper and in life.
