Based in David City, Carrie Mittan is a multi-talented artist whose work is inspired by the quiet beauty of rural life. A dedicated member of the Columbus Area Artists since 2008, Carrie's creative journey continues to evolve while remaining grounded in an appreciation for the familiar landscapes and textures of the Midwest.

Finding Beauty in Small Details

Carrie's artistic approach is driven by a desire to draw attention to the subtle wonders of the world around us. Her work encourages viewers to slow down, take notice, and find inspiration in everyday surroundings -- revealing beauty that is often overlooked.

Mosaics with Staying Power

Around 2020, Carrie began creating cinder block and rock mosaics, adding a bold, tactile dimension to her artistic practice. Designed to be displayed outdoors, her mosaic pieces are built to withstand weather extremes and can remain outside year-round. Each mosaic combines durability with thoughtful design, transforming ordinary materials into striking works of art. 

A Creative Eye Behind the Lens

In addition to mosaics, Carrie works in photography, capturing moments with the same careful eye and sense of composition that define her three-dimensional work. Whether arranging stone or framing a photograph, her goal is to create pieces that feel both inspiring and a little unexpected.
