Starting off with a "Vibrant Year"
Multidisciplinary Designer & Visual Artist Yara Ramos
Yaramis Ramos, known professionally and personally as Yara, is a multidisciplinary designer, visual artist and muralist with more than 20 years of experience in creative and strategic design. A graduate of the University of Havana in Cuba, Yara brings a strong academic foundation and global perspective to her work, blending creativity with intentional communication.
Now based in Columbus, Nebraska, Yara is the owner of Havana Stone, a graphic design company that has helped shape the branding and visual identities of businesses and organizations throughout the community. She also serves as a Graphic Designer for Central Community College - Columbus Campus, where she continues to apply her expertise in branding, layout, and visual storytelling.
Design with Purpose
Yara's approach to design extends beyond aesthetics. She carefully considers functionality, audience demographics and technical execution in every project. This thoughtful process allows her to deliver work that aligns with client goals while effectively communicating clear, impactful messages.
Her branding work has improved recognition for a wide range of local businesses and organizations, including Modern Muse Furniture Store, Tonya Wemhoff Consulting, Gilda Hernandez Soublett and Havana Cafe, among many others. She was also part of the team that created the "Something Good Columbus" branding initiative.
Public Art & Murals
In addition to her design work, Yara is an accomplished muralist whose large-scale public art contributes to the visual identity of Columbus. Several of her murals can be seen throughout the community, including works at Artzy Haven, Frankfort Square, the Columbus Community Building, Market 23 and the Innovation Center. These pieces reflect her ability to translate strong design principals into engaging, community-centered art experiences.
Educator & Community Advocate
Yara is deeply committed to education and community engagement. She has served as an instructor for Opportunity Central, teaching courses such as Adobe Photoshop for Beginners and Computer for Beginners. She has also taught Graphic Design and the Importance of Branding through the Central Community College Business Incubator Center.
Creative Practice
As an artist, Yara applies the same design principles that guide her professional work while allowing space for experimentation with mixed media, materials, and techniques. She is particularly drawn to creating art that invites interaction and builds meaningful connections with audiences.
