Exploring the Power of One Color With Telagio Baptista

A Creative Afternoon for Area Artist

On Saturday, September 13, the Creativity Corner at the Columbus Public Library welcomed 14 participants for a hands-on watercolor class with artist Telagio Baptista. The three-hour workshop invited attendees to explore the expressive potential of working with just one color.

Learning from a Master

Telagio's work has been featured in national and international exhibitions, known for its ability to capture human emotion and movement with elegant line work and intuitive color. His experience and approachable teaching style made the class engaging for beginners and seasoned painters alike.

The Power of Monochrome

Participants enjoyed a live demonstration where Telagio showed how a single hue could create mood, depth and dimension. He emphasized the importance of value, ranging from the lightest wash to the deepest tones, while sharing tips and techniques to elevate any watercolor piece.

Walking Away Inspired

By the end of the class, each participant left with a finished painting and practical insights to apply in future work. The room was filled with inspiration and excitement, proof of how meaningful it can be to learn directly from an accomplished artist.
