Creativity Flows at the Alcohol Ink Workshop

Participants Discover New Techniques and Create Stunning Works of Art

The Creativity Corner was filled with color, creativity and artistic expression on Saturday, July 25, as participants gathered for the Alcohol Ink Workshop led by local artist Amy Tomasevicz.

Designed for artists of every skill level, the full-day workshop welcomed both beginners and experienced creators eager to explore one of today's most vibrant and expressive artistic mediums. Throughout the day, participants discovered just how versatile alcohol inks can be while creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind works of art.

Learning the Fundamentals

The morning session focused on introducing participants to the foundation of alcohol ink art. Amy guided the class through the unique properties of alcohol inks, demonstrating how the inks flow, blend and react on non-porous surfaces.

Using straw-blowing and brush techniques, participants created colorful floral artwork while learning how to add, remove, and manipulate ink to achieve vibrant colors, delicate textures and eye catching effects. It didn't take long before everyone was confidently experimenting and discovering their own artistic style.

Building on New Skills

After a lunch break, the class returned for an afternoon of more advanced techniques.

Participants built upon what they had learned in the morning by creating landscape-inspired pieces that incorporated foreground, middle ground and background elements to give their artwork depth and movement. Amy also introduced flowing abstract techniques that encouraged creativity and experimentation, allowing each participant to develop their own unique artistic expression.

By the end of the day, everyone had completed multiple pieces of artwork while gaining a greater appreciation for the versatility and beauty of alcohol ink.

A Day of Creativity and Community

One of the highlights of the workshop was watching participants encourage one another, share ideas and celebrate each other's creations. Every piece reflected the individual creativity of its artist, making for an inspiring collection of colorful landscapes, florals and abstract designs.

A special thank you goes to Amy Tomasevicz for sharing her talent, knowledge and enthusiasm throughout the day. Her patient instruction and encouraging teaching style helped make the workshop enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their previous artistic experience.
