Brightening Up the Trackside District

’Tis the season for new banners, and we’re thrilled to announce fresh, vibrant banners are going up throughout the Trackside District!

Loup Public Power District crews were hard at work, rolling through the district and hanging the Trackside District's and the Trax Creative District's new branded banners that celebrate the uniqueness of our downtown area. These banners highlight everything the Trackside District and Trax Creative District has to offer—from shopping, dining, entertainment and everything in between.

We intentionally kept the holiday banners up into 2025 while we waited for the new designs to arrive, being mindful of the crews’ time and making sure we stayed efficient with the installation process. Now, we’re excited to showcase these beautiful new banners, which were part of our carefully budgeted plan to give downtown an even brighter and more inviting look, stated the Business Improvement District (BID) Board.

A Thoughtful & Strategic Banner Plan

The goal is for the entire district—from 11th Street to 14th Street, spanning 33rd Avenue to 23rd Avenue—to have the new banners in place. With 154 banners going up, the installation process will take some time, but the end result will be well worth it!

The committee working on this project spent several months perfecting the design and physically surveying the area to discuss the best banner placements. After careful planning, the final banner design and placement plan was approved by the BID Board.

While the committee originally aimed to source the banners locally, Nebraska’s tough weather conditions and the banners’ specific placement needs required a heavier material, which local vendors couldn’t accommodate. As a result, the BID Board selected an external vendor to produce the banners. However, the brackets needed to hold the banners are being manufactured locally, ensuring a portion of this project stays community-focused.

Installation Partners & Future Steps

As in the past, Loup Public Power District has agreed to continue managing the installation and removal of banners in the downtown area where the original banners have been hanging for multiple years. With more banners being added, the committee found it necessary to worked to find a company willing to install additional brackets and new banners in the expanded areas. Once the new brackets arrive, the remaining banners will go up!

This banner project is a significant investment in the look and feel of the Trackside and Trax Creative District, with a total combined project cost of approximately $20,000. Funding for the project was provided through the development grant awarded to the Trax Creative District and the BID assessments.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance the beauty and vibrancy of our downtown area!
