Last Updated 7/29/2024

Grant Funds available for Downtown Property Owners and Tenants

Attention downtown property owners and tenants! The Trackside District - Downtown Columbus Business Improvement Board announces another round of funding opportunity to enhance and rejuvenate our downtown area through the Downtown Revitalization Grant. This initiative is designed to support the improvement of buildings and storefronts within our city’s core, ensuring our downtown remains a lively and attractive destination for residents and visitors alike.

Grant Details

The Downtown Revitalization Grant is available to property owners and tenants within the specified downtown area, which includes:

  • 11th Street
  • 12th Street
  • 13th Street
  • 14th Street

between 22nd Avenue and 30th Avenue.

Funding and Matching Requirements

  • Maximum Funding Request: $30,000
  • Required Match: 1:1 match from the applicant

This means that for every dollar requested from the grant, the applicant must provide an equal amount of funding. This matching requirement ensures a shared investment in the revitalization efforts.

Approval Process

All requests and design details must be approved by both the Business Improvement District (BID) Board and the Columbus City Council. This collaborative approval process ensures that all improvements align with the overall vision and standards for our downtown area.

Eligible Activities

The grant funds can be used for a variety of exterior improvements, including:

  • Awnings: Enhance the curb appeal and functionality of your storefront with stylish and practical awnings.
  • Signage: Update or replace signage to attract more customers and improve visibility.
  • Exterior Lighting: Improve safety and aesthetics with modern, energy-efficient exterior lighting.
  • Windows and Doors: Upgrade windows and doors for better energy efficiency and a more inviting appearance.
  • Restoration of Original Exterior Architectural Features: Preserve and restore the historic charm of your building by maintaining original architectural details.

Additionally, painting is eligible under specific conditions. Painting projects must be combined with window replacement or facade restoration for bricks, stucco, and other exterior surfaces. This ensures that painting contributes to historic preservation and prevents exterior deterioration.
