Craftmanship Through the Generations

Tucked just south of Frankfort Square in the Trackside District - Downtown Columbus, Prokupek Shoe Shop is more than a repair shop. It's a century-long story of tradition, quality and care.

This family-owned gem has been serving the community since 1943, and today, fourth-generation cobbler Ron Prokupek and business partner Christine Haney are keeping the legacy alive at 1259 26th Ave. Ron, who also owns Ron's Flooring, traces his roots to 1917 when his great-grandfather Vaclav Prokupek first stepped into the trade.

Services that Stand the Test of Time

At Prokupek Shoes, they believe that repairing is an art and a sustainable choice. Whether it's replacing soles, fixing zippers, or conditioning leather, Ron and Christine specialize in giving shoes, boots, bags and gear a second life.

What They Work On

Core services include: sole and heel replacement, sewing alterations and re-gluing, leather patch sewing and garment personalization, key cutting from a large in-house selection, custom orthopedic shoe work and eyelets, rivets and grommet repairs.

They've even tackled one-of-a-kind repairs like: horse tack and saddles, inflatable bounce houses, truck bed liners, picnic table covers and motorcycle saddlebags.

It it's fabric or leather, chances are they can fix it!

Tools of the Trade and Tradition

Prokupek Shoes still uses their antique Singer sewing machine, a beautiful nod to the past that continues to deliver results with integrity and craftsmanship. Christine and Ron bring fresh energy to the shop while honoring the legacy that's been handed down through generations.

And while you wait? Feel free to enjoy one of their three gaming systems. A fun and quirky addition for customers who like a little entertainment with their errands.

Community Support and Business Growth

Christine is quick to acknowledge the behind-the scenes support that helped them relaunch successfully. She credits Kelli Faltys, a business coach with Central Community College and Strategic Impact Plus, for helping guide the business through a new chapter of growth.

Summer Hours and Future Plans

Looking ahead, Prokupek Shoes is excited to expand into mobile services, bringing their high-quality repairs directly to the community.

Their summer hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Appointments are also available by calling 531-230-1495.

Why It Matters

"We're offering something lasting and meaningful in a throwaway world," says Christine.

Whether it's your favorite boots, a well-worn handbag, or a sentimental keepsake, Prokupek Shoe Shop will treat it with the care, respect and expertise it deserves.
