Business Spotlight: RSVP Designs
A Passion Turned Profession
For Kimberly Henggeler, owner of RSVP Designs, printing isn't just a job, it's a calling. After working 14 years in the printing department at Eakes Office Solutions, she found herself at a crossroads when the company transitioned out of the printing and retail side of the business in 2019. Rather than stepping away from the work she loved, she took a leap of faith and opened her own shop.
"I couldn't imagine doing anything else," she says. "I love what I do!"
Inspired by Customers and Creativity
Kimberly's true inspiration comes from her customers. She finds joy in helping a bride design her dream wedding invitations, in crafting heartful memorial booklets, and in transforming inspiration photos into personalized local creations.
"I love seeing the excitement in a bride's eyes, or the emotion of a family putting together something meaningful," she shares. "And when someone says, 'I trust you,' that's when I get to create something completely unique."
Designs for Every Occasion
At RSVP Designs, you'll find printing of all kinds -- from invitations and business documents to banners, posters and marketing materials. Kimberly also provides custom logo design and creative consultation services for businesses and organizations.
She's even built a loyal following of Bridge and Bunco players who visit regularly to have her personalize their game tally cards -- a fun tradition that has become one of her favorite parts of the business.
Rooted in Downtown Columbus
RSVP Designs opened its doors in September 2019, in downtown Columbus. Kimberly is deeply committed to the community she serves. She actively participates in community efforts, attending monthly BID meetings, serving as President of the Columbus Arts Foundation and contributing her time as a member of the Platte County Visitors Center Advisory Board.
"Being involved in the community where I live and work is very important to me," she says. "I can't make it to every event, but I go whenever I can."
A Business Built on Balance
When asked about the future, Kimberly's goal is simple: to keep doing what she loves while maintaining balance in her life.
"I don't want to build a huge empire," she says with a smile. "My business keeps me busy, pays the bills, and makes me happy. If I got too busy, I wouldn't have time to enjoy life with friends, family and my dogs."
New Creative Ventures
As technology evolves, Kimberly is finding new ways to merge creativity with innovation. One of her latest endeavors is animated invitations -- a growing trend for those who prefer digital invites over traditional paper ones. "I'm still learning," she admits, "but I've done a few I'm really proud of."
Supporting Local, Building Community
Kimberly believes businesses like her help keep the downtown district vibrant and personal. "I think what we offer locally is that personal touch that's missing in online shopping," she explains. "You get to see, feel, and be part of the process. When you shop local, you avoid the miscommunication that often comes with online orders and you support your community at the same time."
She also makes it a point to collaborate with and shop at other downtown businesses, helping to keep resources and support circulating locally.
Pride in Downtown Progress
Kimberly has witnessed the positive transformation happening in downtown Columbus. "The area is really becoming an inviting place to work, shop, and dine," she says. "The BID Board is putting their heart and soul into it. The events in the Square bring people together and business owners are taking more pride in their storefronts. It's wonderful to see."
