Fall for the Arts celebrates creativity by connecting artists, performers, businesses, and the community through a one-day, multi-venue festival that showcases local talent, encourages exploration of Downtown Columbus, strengthens the local arts community, and inspires support for the restoration of the historic Columbus Theatre.
Every great community event starts with an idea, and Fall for the Arts is no exception.
Several years ago, a local downtown business owner shared the idea for an arts festival during Columbus' Big Ideas competition. The concept was to create an event that celebrated local artists while bringing people into Downtown Columbus. The idea resonated with the judges, earning a $500 seed grant to help get the project started.
As planning began, it quickly became apparent bringing such an ambitious vision to life would require more than one person could accomplish alone. Recognizing the potential of the event, the organizers reached out to Columbus in Action, along with local artists, business owners, volunteers, and community organizations, to help turn the concept into reality.
Since then, the festival has grown through the dedication of a passionate committee committed to creating a signature arts event for Columbus. Over the past several months, volunteers have worked together to recruit artists and musicians, secure downtown venues, develop sponsorships, pursue grant funding, and build partnerships throughout the community.
Today, Fall for the Arts has evolved into a collaborative celebration of creativity that will transform Downtown Columbus into a walkable arts destination featuring local and regional artists, live music, performances, shopping, dining, and creative experiences. The festival also serves as an opportunity to share Columbus in Action's vision for restoring the historic Columbus Theatre, demonstrating how one person's idea grew into a community-wide effort to celebrate the arts and invest in the future of Downtown Columbus.
Fall for the Arts is proof that when a community comes together around a shared vision, even a simple idea can grow into something extraordinary.
