Your Guide to a Full Day of Art, Music & Downtown Fun
The countdown is on, the schedule is set, and downtown Columbus is getting ready for Fall for the Arts!
On Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., downtown businesses, public spaces and gathering places will come together for a day filled with live music, visual art and performances throughout the district.
Businesses become the galleries. Downtown becomes the stage.
And now, with the final schedule and event map in hand, it’s time to start planning your day!
Start Anywhere. Explore Everywhere.
There really isn’t a “right” way to experience Fall for the Arts.
Start at your favorite downtown business. Follow the music. Discover an artist you haven’t met before. Stop for lunch or a drink along the way. Then keep exploring.
Performances begin at 11 a.m. at Brick Side at the Friedhof Building with Jim Davis and continue throughout the afternoon at venues across downtown. The day includes performances by Drew Morelock, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Sarah Battenhausen, Dr. Oscar Vazquez Medrano, Leon Finecy the Polka King, Ethian Alejandro, CCC Theater, Jonathan de Santiago, Dr. David Klee, Ruegazz, Light Speed Highway, Olivia Vanderford and Los Juniors.
Then, at 4 p.m., Side Step takes the stage at Barrel House, playing through the final two hours of Fall for the Arts.
And don’t forget about Henry’s on 11th, where the Community Open Mic and artist Brad Zywiec will be featured from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Art Around Every Corner
Fall for the Arts isn’t just about what’s happening on stage.
Visual artists will be featured throughout downtown all day, giving visitors an opportunity to see a wide variety of styles, mediums and perspectives.
Featured artists include Jim Davis, Amy Tomasevicz, Dezi Johnson, Clyde Ericson, Patrice Wielgus & Dean Pilar, Yara Ramos, Danika Rowe, Oria Simonini, Eduardo Gardea, Graciela De Anda, Betty Osborn and Lily Ackman.
You may come downtown because you recognize a name—but we hope you leave having discovered someone new.
Pick Up a Card, Collect Stamps & Enter to Win
Here’s another reason to explore!
Pick up an event card and collect stamps at participating locations throughout downtown. Add your contact information to your completed card and turn it in for a chance to win prizes.
Think of it as a little extra encouragement to wander beyond your first stop and see what else is happening around the district.
Curious About the Downtown Theatre?
Fall for the Arts is also an opportunity to learn more about the Downtown Theatre renovation.
Look for the Downtown Theatre location marked on the event map. If you have questions about the renovation or want to learn more about the project, stop by and talk with someone who can tell you more about what’s planned for this important downtown space.
Make a Day of It
With performances and artists spread throughout downtown, Fall for the Arts was designed to be explored.
Come for an hour or stay for the afternoon. Grab lunch. Meet an artist. Listen to a musician you’ve never heard before. Visit a business you haven’t stepped inside. Find your next performance on the map and stroll to the next stop.
Most importantly, don’t feel like you have to see everything. Build your own Fall for the Arts experience.
