Could Your Business Be a 2027 Nebraska Passport Stop?
Every year, thousands of travelers hit the road in search of Nebraska's hidden gems through the Nebraska Passport program. From unique restaurants and boutiques to museums, breweries, art destinations, and outdoor attractions, the Passport encourages visitors to explore communities across the state and applications are now open for the 2027 Nebraska Passport.
If you own or operate a business in the Trackside District, this could be an excellent opportunity to introduce your business to new customers and showcase everything that makes Downtown Columbus special.
Why Consider Applying?
Being selected as a Nebraska Passport stop can provide:
- Increased visitor traffic throughout the Passport season.
- Greater visibility for your business and the Columbus community.
- Opportunities to generate additional sales and attract first-time visitors.
- Exposure to travelers who are specifically looking for unique Nebraska experiences.
Passport travelers are known for making a day—or even a weekend—out of their visits, often exploring nearby restaurants, shops, attractions, and events while they're in town.
Is Your Business a Good Fit?
Visit Nebraska is looking for destinations that provide an exceptional and memorable visitor experience. Past Passport stops have included:
- Restaurants
- Retail boutiques
- Museums
- Art galleries
- Breweries and wineries
- Outdoor recreation destinations
- Specialty attractions
To be considered, businesses should offer outstanding customer service, maintain consistent operating hours during the Passport season (May 1 through September 30), be open at least one weekend day, and be willing to welcome Passport visitors by stamping their Passport booklets.
Selected stops also serve as ambassadors for their community by encouraging visitors to explore other nearby attractions, restaurants, and businesses.
Application Period is Open
Applications for the 2027 Nebraska Passport opened August 1, with a submission deadline of October 31, 2026. There is no cost to apply or participate.
While selection is competitive—only 70 destinations across Nebraska are chosen each year—businesses that have applied previously are encouraged to apply again. The selection committee looks for a variety of destinations, geographic diversity, unique experiences, and fresh opportunities for travelers.
Showcase the Best of Downtown Columbus
The Trackside District offers visitors an incredible combination of shopping, dining, public art, historic architecture, live entertainment, and community events. Participating in programs like the Nebraska Passport helps introduce new audiences to everything Columbus has to offer and encourages repeat visits long after the Passport season ends.
If your business offers a unique experience and enjoys welcoming visitors, consider applying to become a 2027 Nebraska Passport stop. It could be your opportunity to put your business—and Downtown Columbus—on the map for travelers from across Nebraska and beyond.
