Business Spotlight: Fraternal Order of Eagles - Columbus, Nebraska
A Legacy Rooted in Service
The Fraternal Order of Eagles began in 1898 in Seattle, Washington, when six theater owners came together to address a musician's strike. What started as a practical conversation soon grew into something much bigger -- discussions about life, fairness and community. Originally called the Order of Good Things, the organization soon adopted the bald eagle as its emblem and became the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
With the guiding mission to "make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope," the Eagles have stood firm for more than a century. Their enduring motto -- Liberty, Truth, Justice and Equality -- continues to guide everything they do.
Serving Columbus Since 1909
The Eagles Club has been part of the Columbus community since January 13, 1909. Early meetings were held at 2207 11th Street before the club purchased its current home at 3205 12th Street in February 1995. For generations, the Eagles have been a steady presence downtown, offering both fellowship and support where it's needed most.
