It Takes Community Support to Bring Art Downtown
When you see a sculpture along the streets of downtown Columbus, there is more behind it than the artist who created it.
There is also a business or organization that stepped forward to help bring that artwork to our community.
This time, we're shining the spotlight on Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest, sponsor of Seeking Balance by artists Ryan and Jim Pedersen.
With its brilliant blue curves, yellow accents and seemingly gravity-defying composition, Seeking Balance is a piece that begs you to walk around it. From every direction, the shapes interact a little differently — making it exactly the kind of artwork that adds something unexpected to an everyday walk through downtown.
Putting Art in the Path of Everyday Life
That's one of our favorite things about the Columbus Sculpture Walk.
You don't have to plan a special trip to see art. It's waiting for you while you're heading to lunch, meeting friends, shopping downtown or taking an evening walk through the Trackside District.
Support from sponsors like Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest allows us to create those experiences by bringing a new collection of rotating sculptures to downtown Columbus each year.
Their investment isn't only supporting a sculpture. It's helping create a downtown that's interesting to walk, enjoyable to explore and memorable for the people who visit.
For that, we offer a sincere thank you to Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest for supporting this year's Columbus Sculpture Walk.
Find Seeking Balance
The next time you're downtown, make Seeking Balance one of your stops. Take a look from one side — and then walk around it. You may be surprised by how much the sculpture changes depending on where you're standing.
And while you're out, keep walking. There are more sculptures waiting to be discovered throughout the Trackside District.
Seeking Balance is also available for purchase for $9,795. For purchasing information, contact the TRAX Creative District at 402-562-4273.
We're already looking ahead to next year's Sculpture Walk, too. If your business or organization sees the value in bringing public art to downtown Columbus and would like to sponsor a sculpture next year, contact the TRAX Creative District at 402-562-4273 to learn more.
Take a walk. Discover art. Support local.
